Termy Next

Sessions that outlive the app.

A native macOS terminal in Swift, running on libtermy, the engine inside Termy. Quit it or update it and every program keeps running. The next launch puts each window, tab and split back where you left it.

macOS 14 or later. One universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel.

Close the window. Keep the work.

Your shells run in a Termy session host, not in the app. Closing a window only detaches its session, and quitting detaches all of them. Builds, servers and agents carry on without a window.

⌘K brings any session back into the window you are in.

⌘W on a pane, tab or session is the only thing that ends a program.

See which agent needs you.

Claude Code, Codex and the rest show up under their own name and logo. Tabs carry their state: dots while working, then blue when blocked, green when done, red on an error. Press ⌘. to see every program across every session, and click one to jump there.

Status comes from the Program Status Protocol, OSC 7501. Termy Next never guesses from what is on screen.

Built on libtermy.

The engine that draws Termy, packaged as a library and wrapped in Swift. Each frame, libtermy hands over only the cells that changed, and only those get drawn.

Your Termy config

Same format and theme library, so font, padding and shell carry over.

Swift on top

AppKit chrome through the Termy Swift SDK, with Liquid Glass on macOS 26.

One engine

The same libtermy runs Termy on macOS, Linux and Windows.

Script the layout from any shell.

Every window, session, tab and split lives in the session host, and termy mux reads and writes it. Run a command and the window changes in front of you. Rename a tab in the app and the command line sees it.

Inside a Termy Next pane, termy mux finds the host on its own.

zsh~/Dev/termy
❯ termy mux split 3 --axis vertical
❯ termy mux send 7 "just test-next" --enter
❯ termy mux tab 7 rename tests

❯ termy mux layout
window 1 shy-orchard
  tab 1 Claude Code panes 3, 5
  tab 2 tests pane 7
  tab 3 nvim ~/notes pane 4

❯

Every move has a key.

Splits grow in, closed panes shrink away and the tab pill slides along. Reduce Motion turns all of it off.
